We are delighted to welcome Grace Loweth as our new Projects and Membership Manager.
We’re so glad to have her on our team! We asked Grace a few questions to get to know her better and find out a bit more about why she decided to join us at Connect Reading.
Why did you decide to become part of Connect Reading?
I have always been passionate about connecting with people and developing relationships. When I saw that there was an opportunity to do this as a job, I leapt at it! I resonate closely with the values of Connect Reading and am extremely excited to develop within the role and help identify ways to work with our members to bring Reading together.
What is one thing you love about Reading?
I was originally drawn to Reading for the University and how lovely and green the campus is. Although I still definitely think this, after 5 years of living in Reading I am increasingly impressed with just how much is going on to get involved in, and the level of community that such a large town continues to maintain.
Can you tell us about your working experience so far?
I previously worked as the elected Welfare Officer at Reading University Students’ Union after graduating in my degree. In my previous role, I was responsible for representing all students at the University of Reading on matters relating to mental health, safety on campus, community and accommodation.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I think enjoy is a strong word to use, however I have recently re-taken up running after using it as an excuse to leave the house in lockdowns! I also am a beginner crocheter, and enjoy *trying* to make things for my family, with my most recent being a little deer toy.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Approachable, effective and ambitious
What in your life is bringing you joy right now?
I am long term dog-sitting my family dog, Scamp, who has stayed with us for a few months, and has decided he doesn’t really want to leave!
You can connect with Grace on LinkedIn and if you haven’t already, you’ll get the change to meet her at one of our events or book some time in with her! Thank you Grace, we love having you as part of the Connect Reading team.
