We are so delighted to have welcomed Berkshire Maestros Connect Reading!
Dawn Wren, CEO at Berkshire Maestros, took some time to answer some questions and tell us all about the organisation and how we can connect with all they’re doing.
We are Berkshire’s largest music charity, offering instrumental and vocal tuition in schools and music centres across the county. We are here to educate, inspire and encourage children and young people to start musical journeys, to achieve their musical potential and, most importantly, to love music as much as we do.
Why did you join Connect Reading?
We want to connect with more organisations and people that share our ideals on opening up music pathways for all.
What was your biggest challenge last year?
The biggest challenge for us was the sudden move from in person music lessons to online lessons. We were suddenly in a strange new world and both staff and students had to suddenly adapt to new ways of teaching and learning. The learning curve was steep but we managed it, as did the majority of our students.
What have you learned?
Nothing can replace the sight and sound of live music!
What has been your biggest creative triumph as an organisation?
Our biggest creative triumph is every time someone picks up a new instrument and learns to play it!
What are you most looking forward to?
Live music making, live concerts and lots of it!
How can people connect with you and support what you’re doing?
We have all sorts of projects happening at the moment and would love to hear from other Connect Reading members. You can email us at marketing@berkshiremaestros.
