Reading Civic Society

Sector: Non-profit

Reading Civic Society was established in 1962. We examine, and make comments on, planning proposals questioning their suitability of design and impact on the surrounding environment and enhancement of the town. We provide education about planning development for members by arranging visits to new developments and societies in other towns. We hold annual lunch for members.

What we do

We are committed to; promoting conservation in all its guises and celebrating the town’s history. We engage positively with developers seeking to influence, and improve the wider understanding of the design of their proposals. We work positively with the planning authority towards the joint aim of the better enhancement of the town and its citizens. We work in partnership with other community groups on projects.

Why we became a member

To make connections and also to gain a wider understanding of the Reading groups which are focused on making a difference.
