Case Study: Graft Thames Valley & ABC to Read
AT A GLANCE
The Survival Guide Course, from Graft Thames Valley, supports those who have been long-term unemployed for whatever reason. The course enables participants to grow in confidence and helps them to develop practical skills.
Graft Thames Valley needed a charity partner who could give them a fun and manageable project which enabled students to develop digital skills for their June 2021 course.
Graft Thames Valley had no idea of how to go about finding someone who could give them the right size of project so they contacted Connect Reading. We were able to provide them with three opportunities to choose from.
The students on the course chose to work with ABC to Read to create a useable set of resources for the charity.
They loved working on the project and were so pleased to have Marcia Rowlinson, CEO at ABC to Read, on the panel as they presented their work.
One of the students found employment whilst on the course. She would not have applied for the role had it not been for the work undertaken!
All students reported feeling empowered by what they learned and really inspired by the teamwork project they collaborated on. The students also developed digital skills which are much needed in industry at the moment.
ABC to read received useable resources including a video and Facebook posts they could share.
